Ingredients
🫒 2 tablespoons cooking oil
🌶️ 2 green chilies, finely chopped
🧅 1 onion, finely chopped
🥕 1 carrot, finely chopped
🥬 1 cup cabbage, chopped
🌶️ 1 bell pepper, chopped
🍗 1 cup shredded boiled chicken
🧄 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
🧂 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
🌶️ 1 teaspoon red chili powder
🧈 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
🥄 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
🌿 1 tablespoon coriander powder
🌶️ 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
🍶 1-2 teaspoons soy sauce
🍶 2 teaspoons vinegar
🍯 1-2 tablespoons mayonnaise
🍅 1-2 tablespoons ketchup
Instructions
1- Prep the Vegetables:
In a pan over low flame, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil.
Add 2 finely chopped green chilies and sauté until they release their aroma.
2- Cook the Onion:
Add the finely chopped onion to the pan.
Sauté until it becomes transparent and loses its raw smell.
3- Add Vegetables:
Incorporate the chopped carrot, cabbage, and bell pepper.
Stir-fry until the vegetables soften slightly.
4- Mix in the Chicken:
Add the shredded boiled chicken to the pan.
Mix well with the vegetables and sauté for a couple of minutes.
5- Season the Mixture:
Add garlic powder, salt, red chili powder, cumin powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and black pepper.
Stir thoroughly to combine and ensure even coating.
6- Add the Sauces:
Pour in soy sauce and vinegar.
Cook the mixture until it dries slightly, enhancing the flavors.
7- Cool the Filling:
Transfer the mixture to a plate and let it cool completely.
This step is crucial to prevent the samosas from breaking apart.
8- Enhance with Creamy Touch:
Once cooled, move the filling to a bowl.
Add mayonnaise and ketchup, and mix to achieve a creamy texture.
9- Shape the Samosas:
Create samosa pockets by folding a strip of pastry into a triangular cone.
Fill the cone with the prepared filling and seal the edges using a paste made from 2 tablespoons of flour mixed with enough water to form a thick paste.
10- Fry the Samosas:
Deep-fry the samosas in hot oil until they are golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: Makes approximately 12 samosas
Equipment: Pan, plate, bowl, frying pot
Cooking Tips:
Ensure the filling is cool before assembling the samosas to prevent them from bursting open.
Be generous with the filling, but ensure the edges are well-sealed.
